CALL FOR SESSIONS
Guidelines for Scientific Session Proposals
We are looking forward to receiving your scientific session proposal for the 9th European Conference of Tropical Ecology under the theme of “Species- Ecosystems – People”. The call for sessions will stay open until 18 June 2025. Please use our online platform for submitting your proposal (at the bottom of the page).
General guidelines for proposal submission
Title of the session (up to 15 words)
Session chair and co-chairs:
Please list names, affiliations and email addresses. Please make sure that all session co-chairs have created a user account.
Session proposal (max. 2,500 characters):
The session proposal describes the purpose and content of the session, e.g., why the topic is interesting to an international audience. If your session is accepted, the text will appear in the conference program and book of abstracts.
!! Please list the proposed session participants and their presentations in your proposal!!
Full names and affiliations of the session participants are required as well as the titles of the contribution in the order of presentation. Please indicate whether the contribution is an oral presentation or poster and whether the participants have confirmed their participation or not. When preparing the program of your session, please consider the diversity of participants in terms of institutional affiliation, career stage, ethnicity, and gender. Sessions should ideally have a minimum of six presenters.
Example:
Presentation 1 – Title, Name and Surname of the presenter, Affiliation, Email address (attendance confirmed / confirmation pending, talk / poster)
Please note:
The session proposals will be reviewed by the scientific committee and the organizers of the European Conference of Tropical Ecology 2026. You may be required to edit your session proposal prior to acceptance and/or prior to the printing of the conference program and book of abstracts. Acceptance of the session proposal does not guarantee acceptance of the individual abstracts. Individual abstracts are subject to the same review and submission deadlines as are all other abstracts. When submitting abstracts through the online form (starting from 25 August), session participants need to choose the appropriate session title from the drop-down menu.
Session chairs and co-chairs will need to evaluate and accept/reject the abstracts submitted to their session after the closing of the abstract submission (on 23 October). Hence, we encourage all session chairs to stay in close contact with their contributors and to review the abstracts prior to submission to ensure they comply with the overall conference requirements. Poor abstracts can be rejected, even if they are part of a symposium that has been accepted.
